Exhibition catalogue for the show “Landscape for the Chosen Ones” for Hafnarborg Center for Culture and Fine Art in Hafnarfjörður (Iceland), curated and edited by Eva Lín Viljálmsdóttir & Odda Júlía Snorradóttir in 2023. The exhibition brought together a variety of works on escapism by Iceland-based artists.
The publication is a hybrid of a catalogue for the works of all participating artists and a collection of three commissioned science fiction short stories. The framework of illustrations and the two new “nightmarish” cuts of the font Sorts Mill Goudy interconnect the narrative, visual concept, and structure of the book with Arna Beth Saulsdóttirs’ commissioned video work “Oneirokritikon” and her universe of dreamgivers – making the book an object of escapism itself. A vague dream language interconnects the content and leads through all pages of the book alongside illustrations of a growing homunculus. As the new font, they were drawn in a tool programmed in processing.
